Josephine Madsen Hilton was born on March 13, 1923 in Price, Utah, the daughter of Zina Matilda Christensen and Charles Henry Madsen Sr.

She married Emroy Charles Milano in November 1940. They were later divorced. Children from this marriage are Judy (Roger) Ard, Geraldine "Gerrie" (Larry) Thornton.She married John Neal Hilton on December 16, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 1, 1954. Children from this marriage are Jay Neal (Debra) Hilton, Val John (Dell) Hilton and Ben (Kathy) Hilton.

Josephine attended Carbon High School. She enjoyed cooking, oil painting, quilting, choir, and serving the Lord and his children. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions during her life including Relief Society president. She worked in the Provo Temple for nine years and recently in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple since it opening. She was also a member the Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers and enjoyed quilting at the Senior Citizens Center in Pleasant Grove.

She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters: Judy Ard, Hagerman, ID; Gerrie Thornton, Spanish Fork; three sons, Jay Hilton, Salt Lake; Val Hilton, Woodbridge, Virginia; and Ben Hilton, Pleasant Grove; 25 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include sisters: Lora Farnsworth; Mildred (Leonard) Heaston; Charlene (Ed) Horsley; Mary (Don) Chandler; Carolyn (Sam) Chamberlain; brothers: Charles (Diane) Madsen Jr.; Clifford (Mary) Madsen; Stan (Janis) Madsen; Robert (Marsha) Madsen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Myrtle Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Timpanogos First Ward Chapel, 520 North 400 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the Church on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
