Guy Don Nielson, age 69, passed away August 13, 1999 at his home.

He was born May 16, 1930 to Guy Jens and Ruby Johnson Nielson in Huntington, Utah. Don married Kay Allred December 28, 1953 in Monticello, Utah then was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.Don was a devoted husband and father. He was reared in Emery and Salt Lake Counties. He attended both North Emery and East High Schools. He participated in athletics and the Glee Club in both school. He then attended CSU and U of U. Don served in the Army from 1948 to 1950 and enjoyed his service in the ski troops. He worked for the Utah Department of Highways after his service in the Army, this is where he met his sweetheart Kaye Allred. Don retired after 37 years of service with the engineering department for UDOT. Don loved his family and attended every event that any of them were involved in. His greatest love, after his family was his love for community sports. He spent many hours coaching and officiating Little League through college. Don spent 35 years of his life keeping basketball scores for SUU and Cedar High School. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. and felt strongly about their charitable contributions to the community. Don loved all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and just being in the mountains with his family. Nobody was a stranger to Don, he was very outgoing and loved meeting and talking to people. He was a friend to everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye; two sons Kim (Myrle) Nielson of Santa Clara, Kurt (Crystal) Nielson of Cedar City; a daughter Jill Heyborne of Cedar City; grandchildren, Toby and Clint Blake, Lindsay, Brandon, Eric, Jamie, Tyler, Cody; great-grandchild, Riley, sisters Lois of Salt Lake City and Dana of Wemme, OR.

Funeral Services Monday, August 16, 1999 at the Cedar 8th Ward Chapel at 11 a.m. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary and Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the chapel. Interment will be held in the Cedar City Cemetery.
