1922 - 1999
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Grace Kennedy Dugan died Monday, August 16, 1999 of leukemia at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas.Born February 12, 1922 to John J. and Grace Wheland Kennedy in Lansingburgh, NY. She graduated from Mildred Elley and was executive secretary to the vice president of Behr-Manning for ten years. On July 13, 1946 she married her best friend and forever love, Walter J. Dugan Jr. and they lovingly raised three children: Lynn, Robert and Pamela. Grace adored and doted on her grandchildren Megan Grace and Patrick Walter Ryan.
Through the years, Grace and Walt (who is a retired executive with General Electric) and their children lived in Troy and Albany, NY; Pittsfield, MA; Barrington, IL and Salt Lake City, UT. More recently, they wintered in Maui, HI. Grace served tirelessly in many capacities in various charitable organizations - ably and joyfully volunteering her time. She loved to travel and she and Walt visited just about every country in the world - and made many friends along the way.
Grace leaves her loving husband, Walter, of Salt Lake City, UT; her daughter, Lynn D. (Mrs. W.F.) Julian, Salt Lake City; her son, Robert M. Dugan, of Schaumburg, IL; her daughter, Pamela D. Ryan, of McHenry, IL and grandchildren Megan G. and Patrick W. Ryan of McHenry, IL. Grace will be tremendously missed by not only her family, but by the hundreds and hundreds of friends she has made all over the world. She will always be fondly remembered for her love, intelligence, keen wit and insight, selflessness and strength.
She was truly "Amazing Grace"! Aloha Sweetheart, Mom, Grammy!!
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Leukemia Society of America in Grace's name. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the John J. Sandvidge Funeral Home, 565 4th Avenue, Troy, New York. Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, at St. Pius Church, Loudonville, NY. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemtery, Menands, NY.
