Mervin Andrew Severinsen, Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, age 81, passed away September 11, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mervin was born February 9, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Henry Andreas Sinius and Emeline Elvira Larsen Severinsen. He married Afton Myfanwy Dale on December 25, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 19, 1943.Survived by: One daughter and four sons, Cheryl (Clifford) Rodeback, Murray, Utah; M. Lynn (Launie) Severinsen, Sandy, Utah; Laird D. (Julie) Severinsen, West Jordan, Utah; Mark A. (Debora) Severinsen, Warrenton, Missouri; Kevin D. (Carol) Severinsen, Salt Lake City, Utah; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters: Warren L. (Diane) Severinsen, Milpitas, California; Eugene A. (Karren) Holder, Salt Lake City, Utah; Rena Mader, Boise, Idaho; Shirley J. Chatterton, Evanston, Wyoming; Laura Lee (Claude) Devere III, Fortuna, California; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sweetheart, Afton, his parents and two sisters, Eleanor Severinsen Abbott, Beverly Severinsen Knowlden, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mervin served his country in the Army's 3444th Ordinance Medium Maintenance Company from March 1941 to September 1945. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1976 after 35 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many capacities. With his wife they served three full time missions, first in the London South Mission and two in Ventura, California. Most recently he served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 1999, 2 p.m., at the Rosecrest 2nd Ward, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
