Lloyd Howard Perkins, 75, dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, returned home to his Heavenly Father on September 4, 1999.Born in Ogden, Utah on October 6, 1923 to James Emery Perkins and Lila Luella Bess Perkins. He was an active member of the LDS Church, having served as Branch President, then Bishop of the Salt Lake Valley Ward for the Deaf. He was the first deaf Bishop of the first deaf ward in the history of the LDS Church. He served as a stake missionary in Scottsdale, Arizona, and held many positions in the Church, served on the High Council in the Salt Lake Park Stake, and recently completed a mission with his wife in the Norway Oslo Mission. He was married on June 6, 1946 to Vynola Dean Kernell and later divorced. Married Madelaine Peterson Burton December 27, 1976 solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on December 27, 1986.
He is survived by his wife and children, Lloyd Dean (Carol), Kerry Max (Connie), Susan Perkins, Patricia Luella (Mark) Whittaker; and stepdaughters, Dana Christensen and Lisa M. (Brian) Woodbury; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Butler, Opal Meske, Lois Johnson, Lenora Andrus; and brother Leland (Grace). Preceded in death by parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 8, 1999 at 12 noon, at the Salt Lake Valley First Ward for the Deaf, 760 East 700 South. Viewing on September 7, 1999 from 6-8 p.m., Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road and at the church one hour prior to services.
