Genevieve Colleen (Dot) Malone Valentine, daughter of Ike and Julia Malone, was born December 16, 1912, in Comanche, Oklahoma. Genevieve died January 8, 2000, around 10 a.m. of natural causes.
Genevieve loved to sing and write poetry. She had her own radio music show called "The Dot Malone Show" while living in Oklahoma. Genevieve moved to California in the early 40's to start a distinguished 25-year career as a teacher for gifted children. For Genevieve, there was no higher compliment than being "a teacher."Genevieve spent her entire life in the pursuit of learning, and sharing it with all those fortunate enough to be around her. Genevieve served in the Peace Corp for two years in the Philippine and Jamaica Islands in the late 1960's.
Services for Genevieve will be held at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, at 2 p.m., January 11, 2000.
Preceding Genevieve in death are her four brothers James, Donald, Carl, and Ted Malone, and sister Gladys Malone-Sprouce.
Surviving sister and spouse in Oklahoma are Ruth and Quannah Malone-Griffin. Surviving children and their spouses are Carol and Don Wilson, Harlan Ashby, and Ava and Mike Bolz. Grandchildren and their spouses are Jeff Chew, Roy and Jill Reed, Cassandra Reed, and Klaus and Tina Halterman. Great-grandchildren are Charity Chew, Row Chew, Kamryn Chew, Megan Reed, Miranda Reed, and Aliya Halterman.
Genevieve would often say, "It's very unusual, but I've always had everything I ever needed." All of us that had the good fortune to share in your life, Genevieve, thank you for giving so generously of yourself. "God bless you too, Genevieve."
