MINNEAPOLIS -- Dan Majerle hit 9-of-10 3-pointers and scored a season-high 33 points to lead the Miami Heat over the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-106 Tuesday night.
Majerle's 3-pointers were a career high. He made six in a row in the second half, highlighted by a 29-footer with 9:38 left in the game to give the Heat a 93-78 lead.Kevin Garnett tied his career-high with 35 points for Minnesota.
Majerle's 3-pointers were one short of the Heat's franchise record of 10, held by Brian Shaw. The NBA record in a game is 11 by Dennis Scott for Orlando in 1996.
KNICKS 95, BULLS 88: At New York, Patrick Ewing would have sat out another fourth quarter and no one would have cared, except the Knicks found another way to blow a big lead before their center returned and New York hung on to beat the Chicago Bulls.
The Knicks led by 25 points entering the final quarter but let the lead slip to just two with 1:06 left as Chicago went on a 33-10 run.
Johnson led the Knicks with 19 points, Houston had 15, Ewing had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Latrell Sprewell also scored 14.
WIZARDS 117, RAPTORS 89: At Washington, reserve Aaron Williams scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Washington Wizards snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Rod Strickland scored 15 points and Jahidi White added 13 as Washington posted its most lopsided triumph this season.
Vince Carter scored 19 points and Antonio Davis had 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Raptors.
SUPERSONICS 101, SUNS 88: At Seattle, Gary Payton, out to prove he's the best point guard in the NBA, had 23 points and 13 assists to lead the Seattle SuperSonics over Jason Kidd and the Phoenix Suns.
Kidd, who outplayed Payton earlier this season in Phoenix, had 12 points and 15 assists.
Brent Barry added 21 points and Ruben Patterson 17 for the Sonics.
KINGS 110, ROCKETS 93: At Sacramento, Calif., Chris Webber had 26 points and 12 rebounds, helping the Sacramento Kings pull away in the second half from the Houston Rockets.
Leading by 12 points, Webber opened the fourth quarter with a basket, igniting an 11-0 run. Darrick Martin, Jon Barry and Predrag Stojakovic followed with 3-pointers, putting the Kings ahead 92-69 with 9:10 remaining.
MAVERICKS 109, WARRIORS 102: At Oakland, Calif., Cedric Ceballos scored 29 points and Michael Finley had 21 as the Dallas Mavericks, after blowing nearly all of an 18-point first-quarter lead, recovered to beat the Golden State Warriors.
