FARMINGTON-- Luke S. Johnson, age 83, passed away on January 20, 2000 at his home in Farmington.

Luke was born on April 16, 1916 in Clover, Utah, a son of Mark Anthony and Elizabeth Ellen Maxwell Johnson. He married Hattie Charlesworth on April 4, 1935 in Tooele, Utah. She passed away on April 12, 1995.Luke lived his early years on a ranch in Tooele County, where he attended school, married Hattie and worked in the mines and smelters for several years. He and his family moved to Burley, Idaho in 1947, where he ranched for three years. In 1951, he and his family moved to Davis County, Utah, where he worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base. Luke and Hattie then moved to Orofino, Idaho, where they built their dream home and enjoyed their retirement for 10 years. They then moved to Billings, Montana, for a few years before moving back to Davis County, Utah, in 1995.

Luke was a faithful and active member of the LDS Church, serving in various auxiliaries. He was currently a High Priest in the Farmington, Oakridge 6th Ward.

Luke is survived by five daughters, Geneva Phillips of Reedley, CA; LaRae Frew of Hooper, UT; Sharon Nielsen of Idaho Falls, ID; Berdene (Deanie) Schaefermeyer of Magna, UT; and Lonna McChesney of Farmington, UT; 33 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Jack Johnson of Ft. Collins, CO; and Grant Johnson of Ogden, UT; one sister, Virginia Tims of Layton, UT.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2000 at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist Memorial Park at Layton.
