Marian Everett Berrett passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 19, 2000, surrounded by her loved ones.
Marian was born February 6, 1918 in Ogden, Utah the oldest child of RaymondW. and Rose Parsons Everett. She attended Odgen City schools, graduated from Ogden High and attended Weber State University. She married Onal Marlon Berrett on November 8, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Except for several years in San Francisco during World War II, and their recent retirement years, Marian and Onal made their life long home in North Odgen.
A devoted and fun wife, mother, and grandmother, Marian's family was the center of her life, She was a consummate homemaker, a wonderful cook, and loved to entertain. Culture and taste were her hallmark. She served on the founding board of the Ogden Cotillion, was a member and officer of the North Ogden Civic League, was involved for a number of years with the Primary Children's Festival of Trees and was a member of the Board of the Weber State University Emeritus Alumni Association. She love literature and current events, and was tireless in her devotion to editing the family's English.
She was active in the LDS Church in various capacities all her life, especially enjoyed the years she served as Cultural Refinement teacher in the Relief Society. She played the piano and appreciated beautiful music. In the late fifties, she wrote and directed road shows that achieved "All Church" status and were performed in Salt Lake City at Kingsbury Hall and the Capitol Theater. She was later called to write and direct an instructional road show for the LDS Church's June Conference and manual.
A retired civil service employee, Marian enjoyed her associations and years of service at the Odgen IRS Service Center and the Odgen Defense Depot. When it came to leave their North Ogden home, Marian and Onal moved to the Case Lane Condominiums in Centerville, where they were warmly received by a kind ward and neighbors. At the time of her death, she and Onal were residents of the Bountiful House Assisted Living Center.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; two sons, Marlon R. and Bradley D.; one daughter, Nyla Pilkington, all of Davis County; nine grandchildren; and eight and one-half great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wayne; and one sister, Jeanne Rohrer.
Services will be held on Monday January 24, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the North Ogden 3rd Ward Chapel, 386 E. Elberta Dr., North Ogden. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Monday from 11:30-12:45 at the 3rd Ward Chapel. Interment, North Ogden City Cemetery.
