Aneata Pearl Farmer, 98, of Fortuna, California, died in her sleep Monday, January 3, 2000 incident to age.

She was born June 20, 1901, in Preston Idaho. She was the seventh child in a

family of eight children born to Charles P. and Sarah E. Albiston Peterson. She grew up on a farm northeast of Preston first homesteaded by her grandmother, Ann Christine Peterson, in 1876 after she arrived from Norway.

Aneata graduated from Oneida Stake Academy in Preston, Idaho in 1920. She attended the academy at the same time Ezra Taft Benson was a student there. She attended two summers as the Idaho Technical School in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1922 she attended Idaho State Normal School in Albion, Idaho. She then taught elementary school in the Burley Public Schools.

She married Truman E. Farmer from Clifton, Idaho, November 5, 1924 in the Salt Lake Temple. They farmed in the Clifton area for the first 12 years of their marriage. In 1936, they moved to Conrad, Montana. They also lived in Cut Bank and Vaughn, Montana before purchasing a farm near Fairfield, Montana in 1938. They farmed in Fairfield until 1948 after which they moved to Great Falls, Montana.

Aneata worked as a seamstress for the Paris Department store in Great Falls. In 1952, the family moved to Tacoma, Washington and the next year to Seattle. She was self-employed in sewing and had a custom sewing shop in front of her home on Beacon Hill in Seattle. In 1978, she and Truman retired to Fortuna, California where they lived close to her oldest daughter Doris Forrest and her husband Bill.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her favorite calling was when she and Truman served as stake missionaries in Seattle.

Aneata was the last living member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; a son, Scott; a daughter, Doris; and four grandchildren, Gerald Farmer, Maureen Farmer, Scott E. Farmer and Scott S. Farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Thella Alsdorf of Santa Rosa, California, Bonna Pelfrey of Fortuna, California; and four sons, Doyle Farmer of Rogue River, Oregon, Val Farmer of Fargo, North Dakota, Larry Farmer, Orem, Utah, and Randy Farmer, Santa Rosa, California. In addition to her children, she has 110 direct descendants: 39 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.

Aneata was a devoted mother and grandmother and much loved by her family. She was noted for her friendships and love with her extended family, her husband's family and the friends she made in life. She loved flowers and always kept her little corner of the world beautiful.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 6, 2000 in the Sharon 3rd Ward chapel, 450 East 700 South, Orem Utah. Interment was in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Provo, Utah under the direction of the Walker/Sanderson Funeral Home.
