PROVO — Two goals by junior midfielder Jennie Christianson and a strong second half helped the 17th-ranked BYU women's soccer team defeat conference rival San Diego State 4-0 Thursday.

Freshman sensation Aleisha Cramer got the Cougars on the board midway through the first half when she placed a beautiful shot into the left corner of the net. Christianson put BYU up 2-0 just before halftime when her shot ricocheted off an Aztec defender and into the back of the net.

"We were not playing very inspired in the first half," said BYU coach Jennifer Rockwood. "We had too many turnovers on the offensive side. We have struggled against them (SDSU) before, but we had a good team effort tonight and were able to get a lot of people some minutes."

Michelle Peterson sealed the game midway through the second half with her team-leading 14th goal of the season. Christianson scored her second goal of the night to wrap up the scoring.
