"Savior of the World," an original musical drama presented by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will premiere in the new Conference Center Theater on the evening of Nov. 28, 2000.

Featuring a cast of more than 60, including families, this inaugural production in the new theater dramatizes scriptural accounts of the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The script and score for the production were written by members of the Church from New York, Illinois, Utah and Arizona. These talented Church members participated in the 1998 Invitation to LDS Writers and Composers and accepted assignments to tell the Christmas story in musical theater form.

Audiences for this production will experience the new, elegantly appointed 900-seat Conference Center Theater in its first use for live performances. In the October 2000 general conference of the church, President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated the theater "as a home for the performing arts." The facility incorporates state-of-the-art technology for live theater productions.

Performances will run Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. from Nov. 20 to Dec. 30 /amily matinees are scheduled on Saturdays, 9 and 16 December, at 2 p.m. Children age six and older are welcome at all performances.
