NEW YORK — "Seussical," the $10 million musical celebration of the characters of Dr. Seuss, has delayed its Broadway opening to allow for new material to be put into the troubled show.
The musical, written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, will now open at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Nov. 30. Its creators are extensively revising the second act. Preview performances begin Oct. 29. They originally were to have started Oct. 15.
Boston reviews for the production, which features David Shiner as the Cat in the Hat and Kevin Chamberlin as Horton the Elephant, were mixed.
Since then, the costume designer has been replaced, and Rob Marshall, who created the dances for the current revival of "Cabaret," has been brought in to work with director Frank Galati and choreographer Kathleen Marshall.
