BEAVER--<! > Janell Ewing Farrer, a gentle and loving mother and grandmother passed away at her home on Oct. 31, 2000, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer at the age of 70.

Janell was born July 22, 1930 in Lo-gan, Utah to Merlyn Johy and Ruby Lavon Ewing. She married Wesley McKay Farrer on December 22, 1947 in Logan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St George LDS Temple on July 6, 1963. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1994. She was a member of the LDS Church, holding many positions, her favorites being teaching the 8 year olds in Primary with her husband and helping him with the Beaver Stake Pinewood Derby for many years.

Janell was very civic minded and loved being involved in making Beaver a better place to live. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary having helped reactivate the unit. She was active in the Democratic Party and BPW organizations. She helped bring a hospital to Beaver and organized the Pink Ladies Volunteers. She was a very vocal Jazz fan.

She is survived by two daughters, Kristine and (Clarence) Pollard of Beaver, and Connie and (Bill) Carter of Bountiful; and one son, Steven McKay and (Julie) Farrer of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Laurie, Scott (Kristy) Langford, Jason Pollard, Jamee, Jedd (Shannon) and McKenzie Carter, Josh and Erin Farrer and Ze and (Sharla) Almeida; great- grandchildren, Jordan, Dallin, Hannah and Emily Langford, Samantha Carter and Sophia Almeida; one brother, William Earl (Elaine) Ewing of Providence; and one sister, Beverly (Rondo) Farrer of Beaver. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Langford.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Beaver LDS 1st Ward Chapel on Main Street and second north. Friends may pay their respects on Friday evening at the Olpin Mortuary in Beaver from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary.
