Tribune Publisher Dominic A. Welch, who is also president of the NAC (a conflict of interest, in my opinion), states in court documents that advertising revenue has slowed due to a soft retail economy. This is believable. However, he also cites a "tough market" of large Mormon families distracted by church duties, which does not allow them time to read a newspaper.
Although I don't really consider my family of five to be a large family, I must admit that I am a bit distracted by my church duties. I have therefore canceled my subscription to the Tribune. I'm just too distracted to continue reading two newspapers.
