GUILFORD, Conn. (AP) — A man was arrested Thursday in the slayings of his aunt and two children and then helped police find the body of another woman, who had been missing since October, officers said.
Police said John Mills, 27, had dated the missing woman, 20-year-old Mindy Elizabeth Leigh. He has not been arrested in that case, state police Sgt. Paul Vance said.
The bodies of Katherine "Kitty" Kleinkauf, 43, and two of her four children, 6-year-old Rachael Crum and 4-year-old Kyle Redway, were discovered Wednesday in a small cottage in this shoreline town, about 15 miles east of New Haven.
Autopsies of the three bodies were scheduled.
Vance said Mills had voluntarily come to Guilford police around 2 a.m. Thursday and was questioned through the night. He was arrested on murder charges that could result in the death penalty.
