Joyce G. Crystal, 67, died peacefully December 3, 2000, in Miami, Florida, at the home of her brother Carl. Joyce had just returned from a cruise, enjoying life to the fullest. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was born May 2, 1933, in San Francisco, California. she graduated from high school in Eugene, Oregon, and later from Brigham Young University in 1954. She began teaching at Murray High School then in Mountain View, Wyoming. Later in her life she was a substitute teacher throughout the Jordan School District. She married Ralph Crystal on

May 31, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the parents of eight children. Throughout her life she enjoyed many opportunities for service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also active in the White City Community Council, PTA, political, and civic duties, to bring about the good for others she served with and for. She found joy attending, serving and making new friends at the Sandy Senior Center.

She is survived by seven children; Ralph (E. Tammy) Crystal, Shane (Julie) Crystal, Lisa (Doug) Wright, Tim (Robin) Crystal, Todd Crystal, Jeremy (Angela) Crystal, Scott (Michelle) Crystal, 27 grandchildren, one great-grandson, four brothers (Carl, Owen, Reid and Preston Gustafson), several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Preceded in death by her husband Ralph, son, Darrin, parents Carl and Doris Gustafson.

Funeral services Friday, December 8, 2000, 11:00 a.m. at the Sandy Central Stake Center, 1050 E. Galena Drive (9820 South). Viewing Thursday, December 7, 2000, at the Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, and at the Stake Center 10-11:00 a.m. Burial at Elysian Gardens.
