LAYTON -- A man died from multiple stab wounds Monday night at a Layton trailer park, allegedly slain by a visitor, police said.

The victim was identified as Kenneth Whittington, 24, who was found in a bedroom.Layton Police Lt. Steve Brown said officers received an emergency call at 10:30 p.m. from the victim's girlfriend. She reported the stabbing at 149 Cushing Way, which is in the Rolling Hills trailer park on Hill Field Road near the south entrance of Hill Air Force Base.

Officers did not locate the weapon used in the stabbing, but they interviewed and arrested 24-year-old Christian Lance Halterman at his Centerville home early Tuesday, Brown said.

Halterman was was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of murder, a first-degree felony.

Brown said Whittington, Halterman and the girlfriend had been at the trailer park before the slaying.

Officers responding to the homicide also found evidence of meth manufacturing, leading investigators from the Davis Metro Narcotics task force and the DEA to get involved in the probe.

Although Brown said it is too early to say if the slaying was motivated by drugs, court records reveal the victim, formerly from Morgan, was arrested at least once on illegal possession charges.
