A roomful of family, friends, fellow judges and other well-wishers packed the Utah Supreme Court at the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse to see 3rd District Judge Matthew B. Durrant sworn in as the newest Supreme Court justice Tuesday. Durrant, who was appointed to the 3rd District bench in 1997 by Gov. Mike Leavitt, accepted the appointment, saying he hopes to continue the "great legacy" of departing justices Michael Zimmerman and I. Daniel Stewart. "It is my deepest hope I will continue that tradition and that I will be worthy of the confidence that has been placed on me," he said.
