BYU is accepting applications for young-children programs

PROVO -- Brigham Young University is now accepting applications for preschool, pre-kindergarten and post-kindergarten sections of a summer school program.The summer school session is from June 19 to Aug. 3. Tuition for the seven-week summer session is $175.

Applications are available at 1319 Smith Family Living Center or by calling 378-3219. For more information, contact Anne H. Ure, preschool administrator, at 378-3626.

Children who turn 4 by Sept. 1 are eligible for the preschool program. Children who will be entering kindergarten in September are eligible for the pre-kindergarten program, and those who will be entering first grade are eligible for the post-kindergarten program.

Medical center is offering weekly weight-loss classes

PROVO -- Utah Valley Regional Medical Center is offering weekly weight-loss classes for adults, teens and children.

Cost for the adult class is $75, which includes body-fat testing at the beginning and end of the program.

An additional $24 can be earned back through exercise, keeping food intake records and attending the classes.

The classes, held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., begin March 21 in classroom 1 on the second floor of the Northwest Plaza, 1134 N. 500 West.

A separate nine-week program for kids and teens called "Nutrition and Exercise With Success" is also available. Cost is $60.

The classes for teens begin March 21 at 7 p.m. The children's class begins March 23 at 7 p.m. Call 373-7850, ext. 2442, for details.
