CLEARFIELD--James Fred Hamby, 80, died on Saturday, March 25, 2000, at his home in Clearfield of complications of Parkinson's Disease.

He was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Ellington, Missouri, to Loren Dallas and Bertha Moore Hamby, the third of six children. He married Rayda Evelyn Winterrose on September 6, 1938, in Heber City, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 10, 1957.He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific in World War II. He came to Utah in 1937 in the CCC Camp. He worked at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 1979.

He loved to fish, hunt, and go boating. He will be remembered lovingly for his hard work, devotion to his wife and family, for a well-kept home and sense of humor.

He served for five years as ward financial clerk in the Clearfield 5th Ward and was a high priest.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rayda; two sons, James Kent (Jane) of Burley, ID.; Wayne D. of Port St. Lucie, FL.; and one daughter, Susan (Donald) Jacobson of Chandler, AZ; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

The viewing will be at Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 So. State St., from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 28th and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Clearfield 9th Ward Chapel, 838 East 600 South, Clearfield. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Bishop Max Garlock officiating. Interment, Heber City Cemetery.
