With all of the squabble about the former Main Street between South Temple and North Temple, anyone could get the impression that it is the only block in Salt Lake City where activities can take place and that everyone should have equal access to the property for partying or for any other use.
This block forms a logical connection from Temple Square to the block to the east. The church has had very little trouble over the years restricting smoking, drinking and partying on Temple Square. These restrictions are readily accepted by visitors of all faiths and from all countries. Why should there be such a fuss over what amounts to a small extension of Temple Square to the east?
It seems to me that anything the ACLU proposes is against the best interests of the majority of the residents of this city.
The former block of Main Street is now property owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and should properly be regulated by the church.
When will the ACLU ever come up with something positive?
