SYRACUSE-

Ferris William (Willie) Gilbert, age 35, passed away April 21, 2000 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.Willie was born April 1, 1965 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Ferris and Doris Gilbert. He attended Bonneville High School where he was a member of the Seminary Council and played football. He married Wendy Huss on December 2, 1988 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. They had three beautiful children, whom he adored. He was a devoted, loving father and husband.

He had faithfully served an L.D.S. mission to New Zealand and loved the people there dearly. He was a member of the Syracuse Centennial Park Ward and was a Seminary Teacher at Davis High School where he loved each of his students with all his heart. Willie served in the bishopric in the University Stake in Pocatello, Idaho and also served on the High Council in that stake. While living in Idaho he was assistant football coach for Highland High School. He loved working with the youth, and enjoyed providing service to all around him. He truly loved people and was a close friend to many. He lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and also outdoor activities, but the true light and love of his life was Wendy and their children.

He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He had a faithful testimony of Jesus Christ his whole life and was a great example of a valiant Son of God.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy; and two sons, Tyler and Brock; one daughter, Shaelyn; and Danny Elggren, who was like a son; his mother, Doris Gilbert of South Ogden; his second family, Gary and Cindy, Jennifer and Jacob Esterholdt; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. His father, Ferris Gilbert, preceded him in death.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at Kaysville Utah South Stake Center, 900 South Main. Friends may call at Myer's Mortuary, 250 N. Fairfield Road, Layton on Tuesday, April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the stake center.

Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made at Barnes Bank of Kaysville, as a trust fund for the children.
