CENTERFIELD, UT-- Virginia Taylor Nay died Monday, April 24, 2000 in Gunnison, Utah.
She was born Jan. 26, 1926 in Manti, Utah, the sixth of 10 children to Martin Lathrop and Jean Chapman Taylor. She was raised in Gunnison, Utah, and graduated from Gunnison High School in 1944. She married Wayne Elonzo Nay on Feb. 20, 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died September 20, 1986.They lived and farmed in Centerfield, and raised four daughters. Virginia was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Primary for 35 years and in the Stake Name Extraction Program until her death. Virginia and Wayne enjoyed serving on the Centerfield Old Folks Committee for many years. She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved D.U.P., doing Stake Name Extraction, reading, cooking, crocheting, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters: Connie Wheeler, Joan Nay, Carolyn Gallagher and Jolyn Nay; nine grandchildren: Heidi, Melissa (in the Barcelona Spain LDS Mission), Jean, Ben and Sam Wheeler; Adam, Susan, Lonny and Candace Gallagher, all of Salt Lake City; sisters: Lillie Nielsen, Salt Lake City; Ruth Hansen, Richfield; brothers: Ken, Salt Lake City; Frank, Centerfield; Richard, Gunnison; and Murray, St. George. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Ray, Hart and Jack Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Centerfield LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel in Centerfield Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery. Funeral directors, Magleby-Jensen Mortuary, Salina and Gunnison.
