Gary Dickson Kimball died April 24, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

He was born in Salt Lake City on August 18, 1936 to Rollow C. and Belle D. Kimball. He attended Salt Lake City schools and received a Masters Degree from the University of Utah. He served in the US Navy. Gary loved the mountains and the ocean and spent most of his life in the San Francisco/Bay Area, returning to Utah last year. Married Shannon Roberts, later divorced. Married Mary Fernandez, later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul, who died in 1974.He is survived by a sister, Joan Steed, of Centerville, Utah; a brother, John Kimball, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and stepsons, Tony Fernandez and Jeff Roberts; also nieces, Deborah Ward, Cari Meabon, Kristin Fallon, Shawn Stringham, Karen Lawrence, and Kathleen Larkin; nephews, Mark Kimball, Gary Steed and Christian Kimball. Gary made many lasting friendships wherever he went and is survived by two special friends, Sally Stock of Pleasanton, CA; and Leonard Hupp of SLC.

Services will be held on Friday, April 28 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple. Friends and family may visit on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South.
