Ruby Jacobson Lignell left her family and friends on Earth for her family and friends in Heaven on May 9, 2000.
Ruby was born in Cedar Hill, Idaho on February 26, 1922 to Alma and Alice Jacobson, who also gave her the companionship and love of seven brothers and four sisters: Alma, Wen, Tor, Alice, Mary, Russ, Florence, Tad, Elva, Don and Vic.She lived in San Francisco, where she was married to Kearner Lignell. She then lived in Chicago where she had her daughter, Linda, and then in New York, where she had her son, Kenneth. Eventually she settled in Salt Lake City where she independently raised her two children and established a beautiful home and garden. She also served with dedication and great integrity for 32 years as the supervisor over the phlebotomy laboratory at the LDS Hospital, where she eventually retired.
Those who knew Ruby would say she was genuinely selfless, energetic, witty, humorous, ambitious, classic in her beauty and style and skilled in many areas including golfing and gardening. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew and loved her and she made the world a better place with her love and generosity.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Stark; her son, Kenneth L. (Cindi) Lignell; her five grandchildren: Michelle Stark, David (Jennifer) Lignell, Scott (Debbie) Lignell, Jonathan and Julianne Lignell; her three great-grandchildren; her siblings: Alice Hubbard, Florence Phelps, Tad (Delores) Jacobson, Elva (Bill) Spencer, Don (Shirley) Jacobson and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to acknowledge and lend thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, therapists and the caregivers that helped Ruby in her last few months with us.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 So. Highland Drive. Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
