After a long and courageous battle with cancer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, William Harris Robbins passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones May 17, 2000.

William was born in Lindon, Utah on November 23, 1923, the tenth child of William John and Elizabeth Ann Harris Robbins. He attended schools in Lindon and Pleasant Grove.He joined the armed forces and served his country in Europe during World War II. He married his sweetheart of fifty-three years, Velma Lorene Burns, on April 17, 1947. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. William worked at Geneva Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1980, to enjoy time with family and friends. He served as a volunteer fireman for the city of Pleasant Grove for fifty years. His greatest pleasure was his family and time spent fishing, hunting, camping, telling stories and whittling. He loved traveling with his wife and spent ten years as a snowbird in Mesa, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove, three sons: Hal (Vicki), Grand Junction, Colo; Gary (Joy), Salt Lake; Jay (Lori), Spanish Fork; and one daughter, Karren (ArDean) Paxman, American Fork; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos First Ward Chapel, 435 E. 400 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
