Seniors at the University of Utah Medical School received top postgraduate residency positions in hospitals of their choice across the country this year.

"Our students exceeded, by far, the national match figures for being placed at one of their top three choices for specialty training," according to Clair H. Clark, associate dean of student advising and counseling.Primary care specialities were the top choices for the senior class. Residencies will take new physicians as far away as Washington and Rhode Island. Six of the internal medicine graduates will remain at U.-affiliated hospitals for advanced training.

Four of the class of 100 students will receive double hoods at commencement in May, signifying their completion of work for a Ph.D. in addition to an M.D.
