Ray Gardner, 73, passed away May 21, 2000 at his home in Farmington surrounded by his family. Throughout his long battle with cancer, Ray maintained his delightful sense of humor.
Ray was born April 20, 1927 in Delta, Utah to Norman Gardner and Verna Schlappi Gardner. Ray graduated from Delta High School in 1945, served in the U.S. Army 1945-While in school Ray met his sweetheart, Glenda Swann. They were married January 19, 1951 in the Logan Temple. Ray served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in a Bishopric in Sandy and he and Glenda served together in the London, England Mission from 1993-94. Later they served together in the Bountiful Temple for four years.
Ray is survived by his wife, Glenda; children, Gail (Kjell) Jenkins, Idaho Falls; Wayne (Bobbi), Kaysville; Wendy (Blair) Woolf, Centerville; Kevin (Lynn), Kaysville; Robert (Lori), Clearfield; Julie, Salt Lake City; Jerry, Salt Lake City; Gina (Andy) Brown, Lehi; 26 grandchildren (three currently serving full-time missions); eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lila Fleming, Gunnison; Elaine Robison, Delta; and one brother, Glen, St. George.
The family would like to thank the care givers who worked so hard in Ray's behalf.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at the Farmington 2nd Ward Chapel, 695 South 200 East. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and again Wednesday morning from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment Farmington City Cemetery.
