Our loving father, grandfather, and brother, Sylvester Anton Kraft, 74, of Salt Lake City, died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday, May 25, 2000, after spending a day fishing on his boat.

He was born Oct. 4, 1925, Selfridge, North Dakota, to John and Augusta Schnieder Kraft. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Riehl Kraft. He retired Nov. 1967 from Fort Douglas, Utah as a Sergeant First Class, US Army. Also retired from the Federal Reserve Bank after 19 years. He is member of the Catholic Church, St. Ambrose parish. He enjoyed volunteer work at St. Vincent's and St. Joseph Villa. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and enjoyed time spent at his cabin in Idaho.Survived by seven children, Sylvia (Lee) Wanlass, Salt Lake City; Benita (Jeff) Brinkerhoff, Casper, WY; Dale Kraft, Duane (Cindy) Kraft, Jerome (Deborah) Kraft and Shirley Simpler, all Salt Lake City; and Sharon (Jim) Rawlins, St. George, UT. Also three brothers and two sisters: Thomas Kraft, Topack, CA; Joe (Jean) Kraft, Tacoma, WA; John (Gloria) Kraft, Sheriden, WY; Rose Laintz, Selfridge, ND; and Helen (Fred) Lowe, Tacoma, WA; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will have an informal open house honoring and remembering Sy at his home Monday, May 29, from 6-9 p.m. All his friends are invited to stop by and share in celebrating Sy's Life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wed., 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 S. 2300 East. A Vigil service will be held Tues., 7 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 E. 100 South, where friends may visit Tues. 6-7 p.m. Committal service, Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, UT.
