BOUNTIFUL-- Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, LaMond F. Beatty, age 70, passed away at home, Tuesday May 30, 2000.
He was born October 30, 1929 the son of Rudger F. and Camilla Bauer Beatty in Cedar City, Utah. He married Lois Gard-ner, June 5, 1956 in the St. George LDS Temple. They spent 43 wonderful years together.As a youth, he spent many happy summers working at the North Rim at Grand Canyon. He earned his BA from USAC, Masters and Doctorate from the U of U. He was a professor in the Education Dept. at the U of U for 32 years. LaMond served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Following his retirement, he kept busy in his woodworking shop, sharing his talents with family, friends, and neighbors. He was an immediate friend to everyone he met.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many various callings including: bishop, High Counselor, stake missionary, Temple worker, Stake Sunday School. He served for ten years on the General Church Meetinghouse Library Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Douglas (Ann) Beatty, Las Vegas; daughters, Judy and Susan Beatty, Bountiful; grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Marissa; brother, Robert (Jackie) Beatty; sisters, Karen (Dudley) Alger, Dianne Beatty, Fern (Rod) Fossell; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Neil; and sister, Janice.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday June 3, 2000 at the Bountiful Moss Hill Ward, 455 S. 1200 E. Friends may call Thursday June 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Lakeview Memorial Estates.
