LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Foot-tickling helped save the life of a newborn baby who fell in the toilet when his mother gave birth in a fast-food restaurant's bathroom.
Tiandra Porter, 24, gave birth to the boy Wednesday at Wendy's. When Clinton Vestal Jr. and his boss entered the bathroom, Porter was on the toilet and the baby was submerged in the water.Vestal fished the baby out with gloves and towels. He then used a mustard squeeze bottle to clear fluid from the baby's nose and mouth.
But the baby was still not breathing, Vestal said.
He pushed on the newborn's chest and patted his back to no avail.
"I finally tapped him on his feet, started tickling on his feet, and he let out a holler," Vestal said.
Porter said she was in shock because the baby was not due for another five weeks.
"I'm glad he was there," Porter said. "I wouldn't have known what to do."
