A year after construction began, the new Beaver Valley Hospital will be opened, with placement of a time capsule, a ribbon-cutting, remarks from dignitaries and tours, on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.

The 5,200-square-foot hospital, located at 1109 N. 100 West in Beaver, has 22 acute-care beds, 36 skilled-nursing beds, a medical office for six physicians, two operating rooms, an emergency room, pathology and radiology suites (including CT scanning capability) and administrative offices.

The hospital will serve an extended community that includes Beaver, Minersville, Milford, Parowan and others. Beaver County's population is growing at twice the rate of Salt Lake County, and the facility has been designed to allow future expansion.
