Three members of the Salt Lake City Chapter of the Sundowners Motorcycle Club, including the chapter president, were sentenced to federal prison Wednesday.
Club president, Richard Knudsen, also known as "Blue," was found guilty on 42 of 44 charges for supervising activities including manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine. Knudsen will spend the next 30 years behind bars, a U.S. Department of Justice press release stated.
During a three-week trial Knudsen, Charles Mirelez and Jeffrey Johnson were convicted of multiple charges stemming from a January 1999 raid of the Sundowners Motorcycle clubhouse, which resulted in federal charges against 30 club members and numerous other state charges, the press release stated.
In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Dee Benson ordered Knudsen, 47, to spend five years on supervised release when he is freed. Knudsen must also pay a $4,200 fine. Other federal indictments against Knudsen are pending, the press release said.
Mirelez, 43, was found guilty on 16 of 17 courts and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He is facing five other federal indictments stemming from the Sundowners raid.
Johnson, 41, was found guilty on three counts and was sentenced to two years in federal prison.
On Monday Shauna Jensen, 32, was found guilty of all 10 counts she was charged with and was sentenced to 39 months in federal prison.
