Police have identified the body of a man who died after his motorcycle broadsided a car near 500 East and 100 South Friday.

Killed was:

Michael Scott Ward, 25, Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Jim Jensen said the accident is still being investigated. So far, investigators have determined the motorcycle was going about 80 mph when it collided with a Toyota entering 500 East from a parking lot.

Ward, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to LDS Hospital where he was pronounced dead minutes after arrival.

Police were not able to immediately identify Ward because there was no identification on his body and his motorcycle had a temporary license plate.

Police found several beer cans near the accident scene and are conducting blood alcohol tests to determine if it was a factor, Jensen said.
