ST. GEORGE, UT - June A. Hansen Sackett Swapp, 72, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 21, 2000 in Grand Junction, CO while en route to attend an Eagle Scout Court of Honor and a missionary homecoming for two of her step-grand-children.
She was born June 6, 1928 in Salt Lake City, UT to Neils Victor Hansen and Ella Elizabeth Iverson. She was their youngest child. June attended schools in Bear River City and Ogden. She was a cheerleader at Weber High School.
She married O. DeLaun Sackett June 27, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. Their union was blessed with seven children. June was a member and past president of the Ladies' Community Club of Brigham City. She was an avid golfer and held many positions in the Women's Associations throughout the state of Utah. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Weber State University, and Hill Air Force Base. She and her husband, DeLaun, served as members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 21 and one half years.
After the death of her husband, and while traveling to Australia for her final trip with the choir, she met Morris F. Swapp of Bountiful whom she married August 31, 1988 in Layton, UT. She and Morris served a mission to Tampa, FL. After that time, she moved to St. George where she was living at the time of her death.
Survived by her loving husband, Morris; children, Launa June (Fred) Jensen, Perry, UT; Kayleen S. (Sterling) Poulson, Kaysville, UT; Paul D. (Connie), Evanston, WY; Mark H. (JoAnn), Kaysville, UT; Cory O. (Deborah), Orem, UT; Annette (Tom) Schwartz, Roy, UT; Layne G. (Bonnie), Layton; stepson, Edward (Jayne) Swapp, Englewood, CO; 32 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, DeLaun; her parents; her brothers, Kermit, Glade, Willis; sisters, Verla Ormundson Francis, Grace H. Judd; and one stepdaughter, Joan Swapp.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tues. June 27, at the Green Valley LDS Stake Center, 511 So. Valley View Drive, St. George. Friends may call 6-7:30 p.m. Mon. at the Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 110 So. Bluff in St. George and 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wed. June 28th in the Brigham City Cemetery where she will be buried.
