AKRON, Ohio (AP) — The body of an elderly woman who had been dead for days was found in her home along with remains of her husband, who died 11 years ago, police said. Their son was in custody.
Delia Carlone, 77, was found slumped in a living room chair Saturday. She had been dead since June 24, Maj. Paul Callahan said.
Police found some remains of her husband, Armando, in a plastic bag below the basement stairs.
Police searched the house in Akron after getting a tip from authorities who found the couple's son wandering a highway near Grafton, about 50 miles away.
Ralph Carlone, 47, was carrying his parents' birth certificates and $140,000 in a brown paper bag, and said he was walking to western Ohio to look for farm work, police said. He had started his journey in June.
