CLEVELAND (AP) — A former firefighter who prosecutors say kept notes on 1,661 women was sentenced to 30 years in prison on rape, stalking, kidnapping and other charges.
Thomas McCarthy, 44, of suburban Fairview Park, pleaded guilty Thursday to 37 charges that also included aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. The charges involved four women who were either raped or stalked.
Authorities said McCarthy led a double life, working full time as a firefighter and stalking and attacking women when the opportunity arose.
He kept notes on his computer and in his firehouse locker on hundreds of women, including their names, addresses and daily routines, prosecutors said. McCarthy was arrested last September.
