Devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, John Fred Herink, age 63, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on July 23, 2000 near Morgan, UT.

Born April 24, 1937 in Billings, Montana, the son of Fred and Marguerite Herink. Married Dorothy Frank on August 24, 1958 in Laurel, Montana. They enjoyed almost 43 years of marriage.

John was raised in Laurel where he was a high school basketball star and graduated with honors. He was recruited to play basketball and study Chemical Engineering at Montana State University graduating in 1959. From there he went to work for FMC where he climbed the corporate ladder working for plants in Green River, Wyo., Pocatello, Id., and working out of corporate offices in New York City and Philadelphia. In 1996, 1968, 1971 and 1972 he developed patents for FMC. In 1994 he retired where he moved to Park City, UT to live out his life long dream of skiing, golf and riding his motorcycle. He will be remember for his devotion to family and friends, and building of fine furniture. He enjoyed the outdoors, travel and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Herink, Park City, UT; his daughter, Keri Lynn Ellsworth (Bob Lipnik), Tacoma, WA; his sons, John David Herink (Kim), Layton, UT; Philip Herink (Sandy), Boise, ID; and close friend (whom he considered a son) Chris Bailey, Salt Lake City, UT; and his grandchildren, Kassi Ellsworth, Sarah Lipnik, Samantha Sager, Jackie Sager, Nick Herink, Jerod Herink, and Helen Herink. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved dog, Tonto.

Memorial Service will be held at the Park City Community Church, 4501 N. Highway 224, Park City, UT, on Wednesday, July 26 at 11 a.m.
