Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Franklin Grant Woodward, 74, was surrounded by his family as he peace-fully departed this earthly life on July 7, 2000.
His sweetheart tenderly attended to him throughout an extended illness. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and that wonderful twinkle in his eye. Each member of his family will treasure his sweet caring ways and the special moments we shared.
Born May 30, 1926, in Salt Lake City to Grant Gordon and Mary Brown Woodward. Married Marilyn Parkin June 5, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple.
His greatest love was his family and the service he rendered in his church. He held various leadership and teaching positions in the LDS Church including Bishop of Sandy 2nd Ward. He and his loving wife served a mission on Temple Square and as ordinance workers at Jordan River Temple.
He was a Marine veteran, having served in World War II. He was a real estate broker, developer, and entrepreneur. He developed recreational properties near Kamas, Utah. With his family, he was active in the Intermountain Quarter Horse Association where he also served as secretary. He loved all sports and was the coach of the state champion American Legion baseball team for numerous years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; four children, Gordon "Dee" (Anita) Woodward of Newbury Park, CA; Randall B. (Debbie) Woodward of Houston, TX; Wendy Atkinson (John) Mestas of Sandy, UT; Lori (Glen) Clayburn of Midvale, UT; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise (Don) McGhie. Preceded in death by his parents and three brothers including his twin brother.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the VA Medical Center and Becky, Susan, Stan, and Cindy for their professional, compassionate care.
While he cannot come back to us, if we are faithful we can go to him and enjoy his presence forever in eternity.
