NORTH OGDEN-- Carroll R. Secrist passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 21, 2000.
He was born on October 3, 1916 in Riverside, Utah, son of Henry and Charlotte Udy Secrist. He married LaMoyne Matthews on February 11, 1944. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on January 18, 1998.
Dad was a pioneer in broadcast engineering. He taught radar and radio to servicemen during World War II. He designed and built the radio and television transmitter that brought television into Southeastern Idaho. He was the Chief Engineer at KID Radio and Television, then retired to St. George, Utah.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, served in many capacities, and spent many hours serving his Heavenly Father and his fellowmen.
He was a tremendous example of honesty and integrity, held in highest regard by his family and peers.
Surviving are five children, Mark (Kristine) Secrist, Moscow, ID; Tim (Carol) Secrist, Salt Lake City; Kent (Diana) Secrist, Sandy; Julie (Rod) Austin, Clinton; and Phil (Cara) Secrist, No. Ogden; Also surviving are one brother, Wayne (LaPriel) Secrist; and one sister, Ruth Bone. Dad enjoyed 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In recent years, he enjoyed several cruises with his children and grandchildren.
His legacy was one of zest for life, love of church and family, and love and respect of the outdoors which he instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 10th Ward, 3352 No. 1050 Ea., North Ogden. Friends may call on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
