WASHINGTON — The U.S. government said Friday it will pay $380,000 to Kevin Harris, a friend of white separatist Randy Weaver, to settle his lawsuit over his injuries during the 1992 shootout in Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

In his suit, Harris, shot and wounded by an FBI sniper, sought damages from the U.S. government. In return for the $380,000, Harris agreed to drop his lawsuit, the Justice Department said.

In 1995, the U.S. government agreed to pay $3.1 million to Weaver and each of his three children to settle their lawsuit.
