A 27-year-old man living in Mexico has been charged with the rape of a child, a first-degree felony.
Charges filed Friday in 3rd District Court state the man was staying with the a Salt Lake family until January 1999 when he left and moved to Mexico. According to court documents, a daughter in the family, now 13, states the incident occurred two years ago while the defendant was living with the family.
If convicted, the man faces up to life in prison and a $10,000 fine.
