Alice Marlyene Caffall Kemp passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the Rocky Mountain Nursing Care Facility in Clearfield, UT.

She was born on January 25, 1936 in Salt Lake City. Daughter of Ethel Sweat and Arnold Lindsay Caffall. Alice lived in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, NV, Idaho Falls, Richfield, ID, Mountain Home, ID and resided in Layton since 1957. Alice graduated valedictorian from Richfield High School in 1954 and attended BYU for a short time. She met her sweetheart, Joseph Kemp, on a blind date in 1954. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 19, 1955. Alice loved music and sang with many community and church choirs. She loved to crochet, knit and sew and was always working on a doily or afghan for someone else. Alice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings such as Relief Society chorister for 30 years. She was employed at the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden and retired in 1994 after 30 years.

Alice is survived by her husband, Joseph Kemp of Layton; three sons: Frederick (Lisa) of South Jordan, Kelly (Colleen) of Logan and Ryan of Layton; and three daughters: Marlyene (Bruce) Duerden of Hyrum, Vera Fortune of Layton and Laurell (Jeff) Bills of Clinton; and 21 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Joseph Arnold.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 8, 2001, 12 noon at the Layton 11th Ward, 60 East Gordan Avenue, where friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
