Skyline and Brighton are tied for the 5A team tennis title after one day of competition and two rounds of play almost complete.
The Eagles and Bengals are tied at seven points a piece with three matches still to play in the doubles catagory. Rain delayed three of the matches at Liberty Park, where the 4A tournament starts Friday morning. Both classifications will play the semifinals and championships on Saturday.
Hillcrest is within striking distance with six points, although the Huskies only have one singles player entering the semi-finals. Brighton and Skyline have two and three, respectively. Last year's finalists in the first singles met in the second round of play. Defending state champion Janessa Jackson defeated Courtney Anderson, Brighton, in two games 6-4, 6-3 in a rematch of last year's championship match.
Jackson will take on Weber's Hadley MacFarlane at 11 a.m. Saturday in the semi-finals.
Granger isn't in the running as far as team competitions, but the school does have a team in first doubles that will face off against Hillcrest duo, Ellie Durrant and Amber Price, in the semifinals on Saturday.
