Ruby Nance Bodley, age 91, died on Thurs., Oct. 18, 2001 at Alta View Hospital just one month short of her 92nd birthday.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1909, in Manassa, CO. to Miles Wesley Nance, Sr. and Sarah Selina Christensen. Throughout her life she saw many changes. From a horse drawn wagon that they used on the farm, to her remote controlled satellite dish.
As a young girl, she and her sisters helped to homestead property along the Colorado River. Later in life she owned her own dry-cleaners and was a professional seamstress. Ruby also enjoyed working in the newborn nursery, retail sales and as a window decorator.
She lived in Redondo Beach, CA. from the early 1950's until 1990 when she moved to Utah to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed many days at the Sandy Senior Citizen Center. Her sweet spirit will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. Ruby had a soft spot for animals and people, especially those who were in need. She served two Stake missions and lived her life devoted to her Heavenly Father. She lived a long, full life and remained independent throughout it. She was active and helpful to all around her until the end. She was still baking, sewing, and serving others. We love her so much and will miss her sweet presence and unconditional love.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Pearl Delbert Bodley and Everett Graff; three brothers, Herbert, William and Miles Jr.; sisters Faye Nance Haynie, Theda Nance Withers and Annie Nance Carr; and her son, Lee Delbert Bodley. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Pat Hintze Campbell and Maurice Campbell (Sandy); sisters, Eva Morgan (Sanford, CO), Salone Kite (Provo) and Edna Strawn (Lomita, CA); many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., Oct. 20, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 S. 1700 E., Sandy, where friends may call Fri. 6-8 p.m. and Sat. one hour prior. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
