Donna Newell Gannon was born September 1, 1909 in Mona, Utah to Mary Jane Kay and Geraldous A. Newell. Married Russell James Gannon on June 28, 1940 in Michigan. Their marriage was later solem-nized in the Salt Lake Temple. Donna passed peacefully away as a result of age and Alzheimer's disease, Sept. 30, 2001 at St. Joseph Villa with her family be her side.

Mom and Dad had a good marriage just four months short of 60 years. Mom taught school from the age of 19 until she retired in 1973. She taught many children the joy of learning and the joy of reading. Mom was a proud graduate of B.Y.U. Donna was proud of her pioneer heritage and her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Primary and Relief Society.

She shared her musical talents with others in school, in church and long time ago in a dance band. Mom loved to fish as along as Dad would bait the hook for her. Mom could garden and can with the best of them. Mom found great joy in taking her grandchildren on "adventures" to see new things. Mom was the best Mother, the best grandmother, the best sister, the best wife and she was always our best friend. We love you Mom, always and forever.

Donna is survived by her two children Jane Dennis and Mike (Pat) Gannon, by nine grandchildren, and one brother Sam Newell. Her parents, her husband, three brothers, Rulon, Harry and Bill, two sisters Lela and Lona, and son-in-law Don Dennis preceded Donna in death.

We are most grateful to the nurses and aides of St. Joseph Villa (3 north) who cared with love for our Mother during her most difficult time. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's association or St. Joseph Villa would be appreciated.
