Bank of Utah announced that Kendell Geiger has joined the bank's mortgage lending division. Geiger has more than 15 years of experience as a mortgage broker and mortgage banker. He is a graduate of Weber State University and has been active in real estate since 1979.
The Utah Association of Realtors named its 2002 officers. John Harr Jr. will serve as president of the association. Harr is a broker at ERA Mountain Land Realty in Pleasant Grove. Michael Sloan, a broker with Colliers Commerce CRG in Park City, was named UAR president-elect. He will begin his service as association president in 2003. Butch Dailey was elected vice president of the UAR. Dailey is a broker with REMAX Associates in Midvale. H. Thayne Houston, a broker with ERA Brokers Consolidated in St. George, was elected treasurer. In addition to the elected officers, the association announced that Lurae Stanger, an associate broker with Century 21 Gage Froerer in Ogden, was appointed to serve as vice president of communications and member services. Trish Reinert of Pacific Marketing Associates in Orem will serve as vice president of professional development.
The Salt Lake-based law firm of Parsons Behle & Latimer announced several staff additions. Sydney F. Cook will concentrate her practice on corporate litigation. Cook received a master's degree in environmental studies from the University of Montana and a law degree from the University of Utah. Jeffrey J. Droubay will focus his practice in the area of commercial litigation, employment and environmental litigation. He received his law degree from Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark School of Law, where he was senior editor of the BYU Law Review. Guillermo J. Ferrero will join the firm's environmental, natural resources and corporate, tax and technology departments. He also will provide legal services to business clients in the United States and Latin America. Ferrero is a graduate of the University of Lima Law School and New York University Law School. David R. Hall will concentrate his practice on general civil litigation. He is a graduate of the U. College of Law, where he was a William H. Leary Scholar. Alison B. Mohr will specialize in patent law, including biosciences, medical and pharmaceutical patents. She is a graduate of the U. College of Law. Matthew B. Sager will concentrate his practice on environmental litigation and toxic torts. He received his law degree from Vermont Law School, where he received the academic excellence award for civil procedure. Sharrieff Shah will focus his practice on medical malpractice, commercial litigation, toxic torts and sports and entertainment law. Shah earned a master's degree in exercise sports science, and his law degree, from the U.
Forthgear, a Layton-based corporate brand management firm, announced it has appointed Ben Borchert as senior designer of creative staff. At Forthgear, Borchert will assist in the company's print department and oversee the design staff in branding protocol and consistency. Borchert studied graphic arts at BYU.
Paradigm Medical Industries Inc. announced it has named Heber C. Maughan as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. He will succeed John W. Hemmer, who was named senior vice president. Maughan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. Paradigm Medical develops, manufactures and markets surgical and diagnostic products.

Simon Transportation Services Inc. announced that Robert T. Goates has been appointed vice president of finance, treasurer and chief financial officer of the company. Mark E. Wilkey was named vice president of the legal division, secretary and general counsel. Goates has 14 years of auditing experience before coming to Simon Transportation. He is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the U. Wilkey spent 12 years with a Salt Lake law firm before joining Simon. He received his law degree from the U. College of Law.
