BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) — Actress Ellen Martha Clancy Stuart, who appeared in more than 35 movies during the 1930s and 1940s, died Oct. 15. She was 82 and had Alzheimer's disease.

Professionally known as Janet Shaw, Stuart appeared in movies with Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Tex Ritter and Robert Taylor. Many of her films were westerns.

Stuart, born in Beatrice in 1919, lived most of her life in California. She was briefly married but had no children. She returned to Beatrice in 1994.
