Edgar Melvin Soderstrom, age 85, passed away on October 23, 2001 in West Valley City, Utah.
Born to Carl Ferdinand and Ragnhild Marie Andersen Soderstrom on Oct. 28, 1915 in Deseret, Utah.
Married Muriel "Merle" Olsen on June 29, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Former president of the Son of Utah Pioneers. He served as a Jordan River Temple worker and a High Priest. Veteran of World War II, where he served in Japan. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and always enjoyed going with his boys.
Survived by his wife, Merle; children; Carol (Jack) Hilton, of Arizona; Lee Ann (John) Watkins, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Robert "E" Soderstrom, of Virginia; Paul (Elia) Soderstrom, of Salt Lake City; Carl (Paula) Soderstrom, Highland; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Leo Soderstrom, of Filmore; and sister, Verna (Wayne) Harrison, of Woods Cross. Preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Holz; and brother, Leland Soderstrom.
Funeral services will be held Sat., 2 p.m. at the Hunter 23rd Ward, 3665 S. 6000 W. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, and on Sat. from 1-1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
